Looking Ahead to 2010

2010 is going to be a big year.  How do I know that?  Well…

  • I figured “it” out. Thanks to some very important people in my life, the last four months of 2009 were loaded with epiphanies and successes.  By the end of year, I reached personal new heights, discovered my passion and purpose and realized how to get the most out of me.  I can’t wait to apply all of this in a big way in 2010.
  • I have a vision. This weekend, I completed a major project by writing my first Painted Picture.  A Painted Picture is a concept developed by Cameron Herold when he was the COO of 1800-GOT-JUNK.  My personal Painted Picture is a vivid image of what I will look like, feel like, and act like by January 22, 2012 (my 23rd birthday).  (Be sure to check out Cameron’s Painted Picture for his company, BackPocket COO here).
  • I have amazing opportunities.  As of January 1st, I am the national President of the Impact Entrepreneurship Group, Canada’s largest youth-run entrepreneurship organization.  I will have the unbelievable opportunity to grow a large organization and to lead a team of 100 of the most ambitious and passionate young leaders in Canada.  Separately, at my job, I am developing new skills each day and I am being challenged to turn my weaknesses into strengths.  Through my work, I am also getting a rare, close-up view of a dynamic web start-up.
  • I am surrounded by amazing people. I can’t believe how many incredible supporters there are in my life.  My parents, friends, mentors, co-workers, and colleagues have allowed me to reach new heights.  I know that some of individuals that I was fortunate enough to meet in the last few months of 2009 will have a big role in my plans for 2010.

Chronicling my big year

I intend to spend a lot of time in 2010 chronicling my adventures through this blog.  As my faithful reader, you can expect:

  • Between 100-150 thought-provoking posts in the coming year
  • Animated discussions on topics that I seek answers to (my post on The Failing Image of Success in Entrepreneurs is an example from last year)
  • Thoughts on personal development and growth (this will probably be my biggest theme for 2010)
  • Reviews and key notes from more than 45 books that I plan to read on business, personal development and leadership
  • Insights on my adventures associated with leading Impact in 2010
  • A short link to a “song in my head”, great blog post, or inspiring quote at the bottom of each and every post (Thanks to Matt Corker for this idea from his blog!)

All the best in 2010!

Congrats on the new role with Impact. Big challenge, but a rewarding one I’m sure. Good luck with 2010!
